SPACE REQUIREMENTS
Large clean clear area, wood floor always preferred, but tile acceptable. Should be in the auditorium so students can also work on the stage.
TECH REQUIREMENTS
Power outlet so CD player can be used. All participants should be dressed in clothing they can get on floor and stretch in. This means pants for the females. Wear soft flat shoes like sneakers or bare feet.

Our residencies combine 10 workshops (for 2 classrooms) dance and costume (WS) + 2 school shows, 1-2 hrs planning & staff development, study guides, CD's, etc. $3,697. Other configurations available.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
Teachers also engage in 1-2 hrs of planning & staff development with residency choice from 6 professional development sessions. Program also works well with special ed. Eligible for Title I funding. |

Louise Reichlin & Dancers, a performing unit of Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers, specializes in educational performances and workshops for children. LA C&D has toured schools for ICAP and the Arts Community Partnership Network in the LAUSD since 1980. Thousands of sponsors include the LA County Museum of Art, the Mark Taper Auditorium at the LA Central Library, Young Audience’s “Share the World” project, touring the OC Performing Arts Center, Ventura County Schools and Las Vegas Cultural Affairs Dept. LA C&D has performed at the LA Zoo and the XXIIIrd Olympics. LA C&D receives repeated funding from the CA Arts Council, the LA County Arts Commission and the LA Cultural Affairs Dept., as well as Youth Arts and Education & Target grants. |

Students explore the dance standards as they learn and rehearse parts to perform with LA C&D. Some residencies are experiential and focus on developing personal dance signatures and techniques (see DANCING YOUR NAME workshop) but more in depth because of additional time. The performance culminated residency is described here. Most popular is when the students have 4-8 classes in both dance and costume development. Some classes select the multicultural dances in our assembly program (Tanko Bushi, Lamba, and Kol Dodi). Others learn parts of "The Tennis Dances" or "The Patchwork Girl of Oz" for a more theatrical use of space, time, and energy. In the costume section students first research and then create on t-shirts, hats/masks, or jewelry their individual designs. Teachers take the classes with their students so they can continue the rehearsals and costume development. 2 professional dancers teach the classes which will be appropriate to grade level and previous background of the class.
